Could use some help here
- monkeytoe on 21-Feb-01 06:02 PM
Hi. I am brand new to DD. I am the heaviest I have ever been. I can't get started on any kind of excercise routine because I am always soooo tired. I am really feeling down on myself and could use some tips on how to get this started.

Hey there. My highest weight was 253. I am now 228 and counting. I started changing my work schedule on days that I could and going to the gym in the morning. When i would get home from work i was too tired and not motivated to go workout. Some weeks I only get there once but thats still better than nothing. I started just by walking on the treadmill..not very fast but for 30 minutes...the more often I did it the faster i have become. I have now started using the elipticle machine and doing the weight circuit...GOOD LUCK!

Hi, I have found the best motivater is to exercise with a friend. Set a date and time and you know you have to be there. Whether it be a jog, gym or swim it seems a lot less daunting/boring with a friend than by yourself. Another suggestion is to not think of it as exercise. More like fun. Instead of having to go to the gym to run on a treadmill, how about playing a game of basketball, either club, or just 1 on 1. I think the main reason people hate exercise is because it seems like a chore, mundane, boring and the least bit fun. So get some mates together grab a basketball, baseball, frisebee, whatever and go have fun!!

Well I feel the same as you. I am sooo tired too when it comes to exercise, but when I go out to shop, I go to a mall and walk the whole mall with few stops and I have been there for hours. That is how I get my walking in. TRY IT! Let me know how it goes.

Just start out slow with exercise. I walked for 5 min. on the tredmill and before I knew it I was up to 30 min. 5 min doesnt seem like alot but it is . Anyone can do 5 min. Try it you will be surprised.

morning workouts can make all the difference. i native american thinking, i think of myself as "greeting the sun" each new day. it makes me feel like a new motivated person.

I'm tired a lot too, most of the time actually. But working out is just like anything else, you have to work you way up to it and you get better the more you do. The main thing is you just have to do it. And remember that nothing is too small, if you walk up 1 flight of stairs, that is something and you should feel proud. Here's a few things to try: 1) walk in place while watching your favorite TV show. 2) walk up stairs at home or work. 3) walk around the block. The more active you are, the less tired you will be. You can do it!
